RSSB's New Pension Reforms: A Game Changer


This training also delves into the implications of Rwanda's newly introduced pension reforms, set to take effect in January 2025. The reforms, marking the first overhaul in 62 years, double the current pension contribution rate from 6% to 12%, with an eventual target of 20% by 2030. This increased rate will be equally shared between employees and employers.
According to Regis Rugemanshuro, CEO of the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB), these reforms not only ensure financial security for retirees but also strengthen the country’s economic foundation by unlocking opportunities for private sector growth.
